Brief/Overview from the client:
Design and execution of the NSFAS Student Participation Program (SPP) across five key phases. The first phase is the Planning Phase, where the foundation is laid, and the overall design process is outlined. Following this is the Construction and Definition Phase, during which specific definitions and the structure of the program or competition are established.
The third phase is the Launching Phase, which focuses on advertising and publicity efforts to raise awareness and attract participants. Once the program is live, it moves into the Management and Execution Phase, where entries are collected, and the competition or program is actively run. Finally, the Post-Competition/Program Phase begins after the program concludes, centering on evaluation, reflection, and considerations for future improvements.
Initial Challenges:
Conduct a walkthrough to confirm the as-built condition matches approved plans.
Mark discrepancies and discuss changes with all stakeholders (PM, engineers, design team, and landlord).
Decide on any changes, make necessary reinstatements, and book inspectors for review.
Materials used and why:
Open Plan Office – The space features several workstations, each equipped with wooden desks and black office chairs, arranged to maintain a clean and organized layout. The ceiling has a grid pattern with recessed lighting, contributing to a bright and well-lit atmosphere. With the slightest touch of colour on key accent walls.
Boardrooms – The boardrooms feature long rectangular tables in a wood look finish, which ties in with the overall aesthetic of the office. The table is surrounded by comfortable office chairs. The grey feature walls and patterned flooring helps create great contrast with the wood look table.
Canteen – The light wood laminate flooring and recessed lighting in the ceiling create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The walls are mostly neutral, with one striking red accent wall adding a pop of color. The room looks clean, organized, and designed to foster relaxation and socialization.
Breakaway/Lounge Spaces – The ceiling has recessed lighting and ventilation fixtures, enhancing the modern, clean look of the space as not to distract from the views.
Design/Architectural Considerations:
Open Plan Office – The office’s sleek design suggests a focus on functionality and comfort, making it conducive to productivity. The open-plan office workspace is filled with natural light, thanks to large windows that offer a view outside.
Boardrooms – There are large windows/shopfronts add to the light quality of the room and a large flat-screen TV mounted on the wall at the far end of the table. The room is set up for meetings or presentations, while still providing a level of professional comfort.
Canteen – A sleek kitchenette equipped with cabinets, a sink, and a refrigerator, as well as a popcorn machine, adding a playful touch. Tables and chairs are arranged throughout the space, inviting employees to relax or hold informal meetings. A cozy couch sits in the foreground, perfect for lounging.
Breakaway/Lounge Spaces – Large windows offering a stunning panoramic view of a harbor and cityscape.Perfect for taking in the scenery.
